Teams:
Two teams equally divided by numbers that present to fight the day of the event.
Process of division: Attending fighters will be asked to create triads amongst themselves. Once triads have been established, there will be a short 3 vs 3 round robin tournament to decide on two team leaders. The winning triad will decide amongst themselves who is the team leaded and the “winning” (if there is a tie, there will be a round to determine a clear victor) triad gets to decide if they are the Romans or the Gauls.
The Romans:
Will muster on side “A” of the river. The leader of the Roman army will place three “supply” tokens within 45 feet of the river bank and boundary markers and no closer than 25 feet together. The supply tokens will be provided and will have two colors that indicate “viable” and “destroyed”. The objective of the Romans is to keep two or more of the supply tokens set to viable, while attempting to annihilate the Gaul army.
The Gauls:
Will muster on side “B” of the river with ¾ of their triads and choose the remaining ¼ of triads to muster on the “A” side of the river. Those Gauls that muster on the “A” side must start with their feet touching a designated center area on the boundary marker for the river. The objective of the Gaul army is to “destroy” two or more of the Roman supply tokens or annihilate the Roman army. There is no access at the start of the scenario. In order to build a bridge the Gaul army must move markers to build a bridge to reach side “A” of the river. Once a bridge is established it cannot be destroyed. There is only one bridge allowed to be constructed. Once constructed, either army may cross the bridge at their leisure. Anyone stepping off of the bridge into the water is considered dead.
Common Rules:
- This is a timed resurrection battle, suggested length is 15 minutes. The actual length of time will be determined the day of the event based on desire, weather, and the Marshall’s whim.
- The Gauls who start on side “A” of the river may resurrect ONLY after a bridge is completed and the enemy is ENGAGED.
- There will be a general hold as the bridge is completed to allow for gaffing and safety. No charging as the bridge is being completed.
- There will be a minimum of 5 battles with each army changing roles as the Romans and the Gauls. Each new battle requires a different triad to be selected as starting on the “A” side. The fifth battle if needed, will have the role of Gaul or Roman decided as to whom is the point leader – the point leader will be the Gauls. If there is a tie in points, the role of Gaul or Roman will be determined at random.
